Aqeeda refers to the fundamental beliefs and creed of Islam. These are the core principles that form the foundation of a Muslim's faith and worldview.
The main articles of Islamic Aqeeda include:
- Belief in Allah: The Oneness of Allah (Tawheed), His attributes, and His absolute sovereignty
- Belief in Angels: Acknowledging the existence of angels as created beings who carry out Allah's commands
- Belief in Books: Accepting all divine scriptures revealed by Allah, with the Quran as the final and preserved revelation
- Belief in Prophets: Accepting all prophets sent by Allah, with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the final messenger
- Belief in the Day of Judgment: The resurrection, accountability, and eternal life in Paradise or Hell
- Belief in Divine Decree: Understanding that everything happens by Allah's will and knowledge
Having correct Aqeeda is essential because:
- It protects Muslims from deviant beliefs and innovations
- It provides clarity and purpose in life
- It strengthens faith during difficult times
- It ensures actions are based on correct understanding
Learning Aqeeda from authentic sources and qualified scholars is crucial to maintain the purity of Islamic beliefs and avoid misconceptions.
